A day in the life of our guests – from the perspective of one of our very own
This morning I woke up knowing something great was in store for me. Mom and Dad were up before me, which never happens. As I entered the kitchen for breakfast, all of my suspicions were confirmed. I watched with enthusiasm as Mom packed up my food, my favorite blanket and all my toys; I knew I was going somewhere really special. After breakfast, the whole family piled into the car; I made sure I was first so I got the window seat! I tried to contain my excitement, but my tail just wouldn’t stop wagging, and as I let my tongue catch some air, I might have even drooled a bit.
As soon as my senses caught the scent of our destination, my excitement grew: I was on my way to Whiskers and Paws Pet Resort, my home away from home!
As we entered the Resort, my exhilaration quickly grew into apprehension. I was sure I’d have a great time, but being around new people and canine friends sometimes makes me really nervous. So many questions ran through my mind. Would my old friends be there to greet me or would it be someone new? Would the other doggies bark at me? When will I get to play? I couldn’t help it, I could feel my body tense up a little as Mom began to fill out my forms. I watched the door to the Resort eagerly.
Much to my surprise, the door flew open and my most favorite people appeared with huge smiles across their faces. As they sang my name and ruffled the fur on my head, I was once again filled with delight.
I was taken outside immediately to reacquaint myself with my human friends and make some new ones while my bags were unpacked and my room prepared and stocked with fresh water and a comfy bed. Many woofs of relief, I felt safe and ready for some R and R.
Upon reentering the Resort, I was escorted to my room gently and given a sweet kiss on the top of my head before I was left to be on my own. My room was compact and cozy, and I had a HUGE window to look through and watch all the daily activities if I wanted to.
Around noon, I waited patiently for my turn to go outside and play with some of my best human friends. We played fetch with my ball- my favorite! After fetch, I asked for some extra attention and was brushed and loved on. I wished it could go on forever, but I knew that the other guests were awaiting their special time so I hurried up to potty.
After everyone’s turn was through, it finally got quiet and I was ready for a long nap.
At 3:00 sharp, I was woken by the sweet sound and aroma of one of my favorite daily pleasures: FOOD. One whiff and I could already feel my taste buds tingling. My meal was prepared, delivered to my door, and served before me in no time! Ah, the joy of room service. After I finished eating my platter was collected, washed, and put away for my next meal. With a nice big belly full of delicious food, I enjoyed another refreshing nap on my comfy bed.
Only a couple hours later, I was once again anticipating my chance to spend some time outside with my friends. When the moment arrived, I was ecstatic! More fun than before, we ran and played and cuddled! I returned to my room exhausted from my day full of activity and lay down to rest again. After everyone was given their full amount of outside time, we watched as our human friends prepared to say goodbye for the day.
But certainly not before they tucked us in! Each of us was given a fresh bowl of water to enjoy throughout the night just in case we wake up thirsty. Then Leah came into each of our rooms and gave us a goodnight kiss and pat and told us she’d see us first thing in the morning.
All the lights were turned off and I enjoyed a full night’s rest as I dreamt of my next day at the resort.
Bright and early the next morning, just as the sunlight started to shine through the windows, my dear friends arrived to escort each of us out to the yard to get some fresh air and take care of our morning business. Upon returning to my room, I was pleased to see that my room was tidied, my water was fresh, and my breakfast was served. Another day of bliss . . .
